Face boosting for magic moist & glow!

Face boosting for magic moist & glow!

Ok so I’ve been skipping my regular face care routines since beginning of summer and my face is officially unhappy with me for it. Therefor I just did a new face care routine that I’ve been doing for two weeks now and my face is finally coming back to it’s flawless self!

My goal was to cleanse my skin, reboost it with moist and glow. We tend to forget that cleansing and moist is the key to a great skincare routine and fresh look.

Here’s what I’ve been doing once a week, add lots of water and rest to the mix and it will have you looking like scmoney in a heartbeat.

Gentle peeling

As most, if not all, products from Rosenserien this peeling is ecological and based on the super plant Aloe Vera. I like the fact that it’s so gentle and soft on the skin. A perfect peeling product to start off with as it activates your skin without stressing it!

Deep cleansing clay mask

A favorite I haven’t used in a while in this clay mask from Rosenserien. It has just enough scents for me to be able to use it without feeling it’s too much. Recommend use is once per week.

The smooth sugar scrubs from L’Oréal

I’ve written about these before if I’m not mistaken. However they’re must haves in my “emergency detox” routine.

Soft peeling that soothes dry skin, softens it as well as gives the skin a magic glow! Who doesn’t want or need that?

Hydra lagoon overnight mask

“The one night product I’ll never change”, quoting myself from earlier this week on my Instagram! However this overnight mask with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and malachite can also be used as a quick fix mask anytime of the day. The mask stimulates the skins collagen and boosts those tiny lines whilst giving your face a smoothing touch and a glow that lasts a whole day! I’ve actually stopped using night lotions and serums due to it.

Start me up sheet mask

The new sheetmask from one of my favorite skincare brands Acasia is loaded with active charcoal and retinol. One thing I love about the Acasia sheetmasks is it’s design, it makes you really feel as if you had a face lift. It both cleanses the skin, refines pores and gives an enchanted elasticity and glow!

Revolution eye gel

The bags under my eyes aren’t Chanel so they need to be gone!

The Noxi doxi rye gel is a two step gel which boost those bags and gives you back faith in humanity at once. I’d say that the brand itself and the products they produce is a statement for the environment and how we damage Mother Earth which also causes our skin to be damaged. The brand has an anti pollution skincare range with everything from face mists to lotions of various kinds. I love them, and the revolution eye gel is a favorite together with their detox makeup remover!

Let me know if you do try it and what effects it had on you.

Ps. I’ll tell you more about this baby soon

The lessons of a narcissistic selfie!

The lessons of a narcissistic selfie!

I know that this will sound super shallow but bare with me, ok? Keep reading. I’ve been at my lowest low this summer. Emotionally and with my health that’s.

I realized people I care about only cared about what I could do for them and that those closest to me would think twice to leave me “high and dry” as the saying goes.

I’ve found myself in my own vomits, blood, passed out, worn out, intoxicated on alcohol and frankly just out of my senses.

Yet I was the most I’m touch with myself, my feelings and my entire being at this period too. I’ve never cared as much about me as when I totally stopped caring. Meaning, when I stopped chasing imaginary unicorns and took the horses for what they really are. Horses. No unicorns, no glits and definitely no glam! When I started killing my darlings, reorganizing and prioritizing people, things and goals in my life. All this I actually “realized” by looking closely to all my selfies from past years. It sounds a bit crazy I know but this is kind of what I learned from “studying” my selfies.

• My eyes tells it all. My mood, my state, my everything.

• Everything is better with a bit of makeup and the infamous Snapchat filter. You know which I mean!

• My lips are really dry which means I need to be better at drinking water. Hydration is key right?!

• I can’t fake a smile, not irl or even for a photo there’s just too much #realness in me.

• My selfies are better when they aren’t selfies. Because not everyone is good at taking selfies and I’m blessed with extremely good selfie photographers around me!

• Most likely a perfect selfie means I’m not doing well and that’s why I exceed in anything that can keep me occupied.

Do you think I’m reading too much into this or that I’m on to something? Feel free to tell me either in the comments or on my Instagram. I’d love to hear your take on this regardless if you agree or not!

Let me tell you about Terri!

Let me tell you about Terri!

When I was in London I met so many cool people. With cool I don’t mean the way society looks at the word, I mean cool as in free spirits, warm-hearted kind and open people. Hey come sit with us people! One of those, a favorite was Terri!

So who is she?!

Terri is a Irish savy lady who’s energy is energizing and aura speaks volumes without her saying a word!

I’m amazed by her history of struggles turnt into strength and wisdom and I’m hoping she writes a book one day so you all can get to know her too! But until then do follow her on Instagram and enjoy these shots we spontaneously took at my favorite restaurant, McDonald’s. Yes, it’s a restaurant and the photos are as fab as a Big Mac with extra cheese!

Mother oh mother, why is your heart so heavy?!

Mother oh mother, why is your heart so heavy?!

Let’s talk about that gold ol’ mother’s guilt trip that sooner or later hits (most) mums. Have you felt it? Has your mother? Or maybe her mother?

I’m asking because on my recent trip to London in line for a show talking to what then was total strangers that’s the one thing we instantly built a bond on. Guilt! It seems as if regardless of how much you do or give your kids, as a mother you will ALWAYS feel like you could have done or given more. Better. It’s exhausting and frankly quite depressing! No wonder why women have a hard time being mothers and not loosing their own dreams and ambitions for themselves.

And yes boo I’m very aware of father’s being able to feel the same or both being able to not loose themselves and so on. But let’s be honest for a minute, how many do you know they don’t feel like crappy parents even though they’re the best parents they can be.

Why do we feel like this?! I think it’s because society tells us when one has a child ones should be consumed by them and devote their entire being to that child. And yes having a child is a beautiful thing but must it be everything *insert thinking emoji*!

For me I’ve noticed that this infamous guilt trip has held me back as a person and that unknowingly resulted in me being bitter and unhappy with myself, my situation and life. I’m learning day by day to say fvuxk it and accepting as well as acknowledging my need to have my own life. Apart from these wonderful monsters of that I love with all my soul. To quote a woman I met when out with Joanne

I might be off with this one but I think not. What you think? Do take my poll in my stories on Instagram.

Ps. All photos except the video on top is from when my kids were itsy bitsy babies!

London, fashion & missed opportunities…

London, fashion & missed opportunities…

Those of you who has followed me since way back aka my day ones, knows that I used to live in London for a short while in 2004. I went there straight from collage thinking I’d become the next Naomi, as did all skinny and somewhat tall black girls at that time. I became no Naomi and not even a Tyra, however I did fall in love with London and it was a bittersweet love indeed. I went home, pregnant and stopped modeling as such. Instead I had a wonderful baby boy (he’s not so wonderful now however being the tiny teenage monster he’s!) and became who I was supposed to be. Me. In all my glory. But I’ve always wanted a way back to London’s fashion scene and God all mighty gave me plenty of them but scared as I was I always found a way to hold myself back. This summer has been all about facing inner demons and taking a good look at myself to find some type of reconciliation with myself, people of my past and present. So that I, we may welcome the beauty of the future in peace, self control, self confidence and most importantly self love.

I thank my dear friend Samira and my stronghold Ous for pushing me to go. And most of all I thank my new manager and confident qween Yasmina for making it all happen for me, listening to my fears and then ignoring them completely in full faith of my inner strength that I myself forgot I had. Without you I wouldn’t have made this personal milestone a reality and I’m so happy to have you in my ring corner!

Here’s some photos of myself because I know what y’all really wanna see and read about is the shows, the glory and the glam. Which I’ll give y’all in tomorrow’s post but if you can’t wait til then go to my Instagram where I’ll post few glimpses on my stories. Find me on @iamayshajones as per usual babes!

By the way. Do something crazy today and then tell me all about it, let’s be savage together!

Ps. My jacket is from Zara, bought on sale 1 1/2yr ago I think #gotitforcheap cos we ain’t flexing like that!

Malta vibes, join me!

I’m entering a new way of living life. I call it do whatever you like and everything that scares you type of living! It’s really refreshing and most of all freeing, highly recommended.

One of my do whatever you like shenanigans is my birthday trip to Malta that’s coming up pretty soon. I don’t think I’ve spend a single birthday away from my kids ever. And definitely not in the past 7 or so years as my youngest also has his birthday the day after me and up to now I could never imagine not being here for his birthday! Or any of my other kids birthdays either. But I’ve gone through so much this summer and my whole body and soul needed a reason to get away for a while on something that won’t be just work. So I forced my friends to join me on some shenanigans in one of my favorite places, Malta!

Photo taken by Katriina Mäkinen in Malta

To see more of my time there I suggest you follow my stories on Instagram as I won’t be blogging those days.

Well look at this fancy hotel (yet so affordable!) we found on who also owns the photos!

Have you ever been to Malta? If not I recommend you go at least once! Should you be there during the time I’m there then do slide in my dm to get invited to our birthday fun, I’d love to meet as much cool people as possible. That’s when I’m not chilling by that fancy pansy pool or drinking bubbles on our balcony!

And then came a new time of day…

And then came a new time of day…

I’ve tried to write this post for days without success because I want to describe my feelings and thoughts which I can’t. I simply can’t say how happy I’m to have swallowed my pride and ignored my fears when entering the competition by Blogozine and Nya trafikskolan in Sunne. A competition I won and which led to me writing this post as well as the one you’re reading now.

I guess I’ll just say it. I’m now a part of the Blogozine crew of amazing bloggers and you can find my blog on their network!

The seconds before I’m surprised with winning, that’s Lisa sneaking up on me thinking I’m just posing for my sister!

Blogozine was started in 2013 by Lisa Sjödahl and is both a network and a online magazine. It focuses on storytelling and the people in each story, may it be within sustainable fashion, beauty or lifestyle. Therefore it’s extra fun to also get to write for the magazine as it’s fashion and interior editor!

This year I made myself a promise which I don’t think I’ve shared with anyone(?). The promise was to say no to more things I’d normally say yes to and say yes to few things I’ve said no to in the past. Just a few. I wanted to see where it would take me and I’m so happy I’ve done so because even though I might have lost some people and things I’ve gained so much more. Self worth and understanding of it. It’s really a magical thing, kinda like peanut butter and jam. The fact that I’m allergic to nuts have no relevance in this resemblance!

Well I’m looking forward to this fall and hopefully soon I’ll have more news to share but for now let’s prepare for fashion week and long for the weekend.

Celebrating with churros!

My bags & shoes are from New Yorker in Kista C, trousers from Nelly & glasses from Firminio Stockholm

All photos are taken by my sister Awa who organized the whole surprise revelation together with my friend Samira and Blogozine.

Ps. This post was supposed to be posted last week but due to various reasons I never managed to publish it.

Not to cool to go back to school!

Not to cool to go back to school!

This post contains sponsored items

End of august means a lot of things. End of a month, beginning of my birthday month (could be the most important meaning if you ask me!) but also the return of routines that comes with school and work. I love those routines, they’re much needed for a family like mine.

Another thing it means in my home is back to school and work shopping, for clothes, calendars and everything else!
Therefore I was so happy when my kids got to chose a pair of shoes each from one of our favorite shops Deichmann to wear for their first day of school. And they looked fab! I’m guessing I don’t need to tell you which shoes are now their favorite ones to wear for this fall right? Go to my Instagram to see some more photos of the shoes they picked out and which ones I got for myself!

Need some new shoes for school or work? Do have a look at Deichmann, they really do have a broad selection of high quality shoes including lots of known brands. I love the fact that my boys found several pairs which didn’t need tying, perfect for them as they struggle with tying laces!

Thank you Deichmann and Red & square.

Planning & winning, how was your weekend?!

Planning & winning, how was your weekend?!

Oh I’m super excited about telling you all this because I suck at keeping secrets as you all know by now. Few weeks ago I entered a competition on Instagram organized by the social platform Blogozine. They were giving away the prize of a lifetime and I who normally never enters competitions swallowed my pride and gave it my best shot even though my answer reveals a heavy reality I felt I needed to share it in order for them to understand I desperately needed to win. Not for my own sake but for my kids. My sister and Samira (whom I also have the podcast with) planned the perfect surprise revelation of the fact that I won! What did I win?! Go to Blogozine on Instagram to find out, click here to be taken there!
Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the week, Sunday, which means planning and family brunch. I really hope we can keep this up and get together every Sunday or at least every now and then.
On Sunday’s I plan my week and create most content for my social medias. I just recently bought a calendar that’s amazing and will really help me pinpoint my goals each month. I’ll show it to you soon as for now I gotta go to bed!
My three planning tips
  • Make it a fun task by planning in a place or room that you like
  • Let your interactive week start on Tuesdays that way you all ready know what’s coming for Monday morning and can leave that day for admin work
  • Don’t overdo. Make sure you get enough rest and if you feel extra creative or energetic one day you can always do spontaneous meetings
Three tools I use for planning
  • A actual old school calendar, however a very nice one which makes it fun to plan
  • Colorful pens & post its
  • Music to set the phase and keep the energy high
My top three places to sit & plan
  • Espresso house, basically any one by specially the one in Kista close to the library and the one at Stureplan near Friday’s and Lagerhouse.
  • My home office. When it’s not a mess that is!
  • My balcony in the summers, I just looove it!
How does your three top three look?
